Many disciples of Jesus Christ are blind and deaf to the authority and power available to them through the ministry of the Holy Spirit. Jesus explained to his disciples that his post-resurrection ascension to heaven was vital to the Great Commission.
“I tell you the truth, it is for your better for you that I am going away. Unless I go away, the Advocate will not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.” (John 16:7)
Use this tool from Isaiah 61 to train your disciples in the authority and power ministries of Jesus Christ’s kingdom.

(Acts 1:8) >> When the Holy Spirit comes upon you, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but only what he hears and tell you what is yet to come. (John 16:13)
Obey the Lord >> To bestow on captives a crown of beauty instead of ashes, the oil of joy instead of mourning, and a garment of praise instead of a spirit of despair. (Isaiah 61:3) >> Teach them to obey everything I have commanded you. (Matthew 28:20)
Tell of his Salvation >> Yahweh has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. (Isaiah 61:1) >> Yahweh has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of his righteousness. (Isaiah 61:10) >> God has committed to us the message of reconciliation. We are therefore Jesus Christ’s ambassadors. (2 Corinthians 5:19-20)
Baptize New Disciples >> You will be called priests of Yahweh; you will be named ministers of our God. (Isaiah 61:6) >> Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit (Matthew 28:19)
Heal the Sick >> Yahweh has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted. (Isaiah 61:1) >> Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will receive your inheritance. (Isaiah 61:7) >> Heal the sick who are there. (Luke 10:9)
Deliver Captives >> Yahweh has sent me to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners. (Isaiah 61:1) >> They will rebuild the ancient ruins and restore the places long devastated; they will renew the ruined cities that have been devastated for generations. (Isaiah 61:4) >> In the west, nations will fear the name of Yahweh; in the east, the peoples will worship him. For Yahweh will come like a raging flood tide driven by the Holy Spirit. (Isaiah 59:19)
Shepherd God’s People >> Strangers will stand and shepherd your flocks, and foreigners will be your field laborers and vineyard keepers. (Isaiah 61:5) >> I am Yahweh, and I love justice; I hate robbery and wickedness. In my faithfulness, I will reward my people and make an everlasting covenant with them. (Isaiah 61:8)
Train Strong Leaders >> They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of Yahweh for the display of his glory. (Isaiah 61:3) >> As the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so our Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations. (Isaiah 61:11)
